During the darkest hours of the “IMF Crisis” almost 20 years ago, all hope seemed to be gone from Korea. Businesses failed, fortunes were lost, unemployment soared and the country was teetering on bankruptcy. Many began to question the “Miracle on the Han” and wondered if good days would ever return.

It was in this moment of seeming despair that the American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM) decided that it was time for AMCHAM to contribute.
Contribute not just to the economy or helping member companies to invest in Korea, but contribute in unseen ways to improve the lives of Koreans and do small things with the goal of contributing to the restoration of hope in the future of Korea.
This was the beginning of Partners for the Future and the meaning behind the name of this foundation.

It goes without saying that employment is critical to the strength of families and their future. AMCHAM decided that it should focus on helping those most in need to secure employment and open the doors to employment opportunities. Given the relatively small contribution that AMCHAM was capable of making, AMCHAM member companies pooled their contributions and Partners for the Future began its journey of helping the unemployed, the under employed and their families by sponsoring their education, providing job training and looking for ways to secure a future through meaningful employment.

Over the years Partners for the Future has expanded its reach to provide a variety of programs and services to Korean society and helping AMCHAM member companies to fulfill their social obligation of contributing to the betterment of Korea and its residents and citizens.
